Filming for the latest series of ITV crime drama Vera is taking place in Wensleydale this week.

Production teams have been near Redmire earlier in the week with local residents spotting a ‘crime scene’ being set up near the railway line.

The film crews have also been in Bedale today, with filming expected to take place in the town tomorrow.

Production units have been parked up at the auction mart in Leyburn for several days.

Filming is taking place for the 13th season of the drama.

An appeal for extras to work on the show during filming in Wensleydale on July 5 and 7 was issued last month.

Starring award-winning actress Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope, the new series sees the return of actor and director David Leon as Joe Ashworth.

Joining Brenda and David for the three new feature-length episodes are Jon Morrison as DC Kenny Lockhart, Riley Jones as DC Mark Edwards, Sarah Kameela Impey as pathologist Paula Bennett, and Rhiannon Clements of Ridley and Hollyoaks as new and ambitious DC Steph Duncan, who joins Vera’s team.
