Lazer Cheer Academy cheerleaders to compete in world championships

Members of the Colburn-based Lazer Cheer Academy have headed to Florida to compete in the Cheerleading World Championships.

The academy’s worlds team, called Lady Reign, won a bid to attend the prestigious competition last June and have been practicing hard all year.

The all-girl team will be competing in the International Open Level 5 division against teams from all over the world.

While out in Florida they will train everyday in the run up to their competition on Saturday

The team of 11 athletes have fundraised for months to raise money for new uniforms, shoes, licensed music and training kit and coaches say they are  excited to have the opportunity to compete in the US.

Coach Chelsea Foreman said: “We just want them to go out there, give it their all and most importantly just have fun.

“It’s going to be an incredible experience for them all and they will have so many supporters watching them from back home.”
