Le Cateau pupils see new classrooms taking shape

Pupils from Le Cateau Community Primary School in Catterick Garrison had a visit to the building site this week to see their new classrooms taking shape.

The school is building a single storey extension to house three classrooms.

Year 5 children will be going in to the classrooms in September.

Phil from Walter Thompson offered to show the children around.

They were given a safety briefing before they went down and were given high visibility jackets and hard hats to wear.

Headteacher Ian Mottram said: “The children were very excited and asked lots of interesting questions about how the building was constructed and what safety checks were in place to ensure it was built to a safe standard.”

A new entrance lobby, cloakrooms, toilets with 12 photovoltaic panels, an extension to the existing school hall, a playground and 20 new cycle racks will also be built.
