The learner pool at Richmond Swimming Pool has reopened after delays following improvement work.

The pool has been shut after faults with a new heating system meant the water was not getting warm enough.

The building reopened in January after major improvement works which have seen a new roof and heating system installed.

But the learner pool has been closed since then due to the problems.

Austin Gordon, general manager of Richmondshire leisure Trust, which runs the pool, said: “We are delighted to announce that the teaching Pool has reopened.

“We are planning to run Easter Holiday crash courses from the week commencing April 3 with details to follow, however the term time swim academy lessons will resume in the teaching pool after the Easter break.

“The reason for this delay is that we cancelled all teaching pool lessons earlier this month as at the time it was very unclear when the teaching pool would come back on line.

“With the Easter holidays being the expected time for its reopening, re-starting classes so close to the end of term would be impractical due to the volume of children that have lessons in the small pool.”
