Organisers of Leyburn’s popular 1940s weekend have cancelled the event for a second year.
Leyburn and Mid Wensleydale Partnership Ltd, who run the event, said the directors had made the decision to cancel the weekend which had been planned for late July this year.
The event was also cancelled in 2020 because of Covid-19
“We feel that there are just too many unknowns and uncertainties to go ahead,” said Dame Diana Brittan, chair of the partnership.
““We are still very much committed to our 1940s weekend which is a fun event enjoyed by so many people so we plan to bring it back in 2022 bigger and better than ever.”
Richard Sanderson, chair of Leyburn Town Council, backed the decision.
“The 1940s weekend is a high spot of the summer in Leyburn with real benefits for the town so we look forward to seeing it all happen again next year when we hope the present difficulties will be be behind us.
“The dates for 2022 are Friday to Sunday, July 22 to 24 and we hope everyone will put it in their diaries.”
