A Leyburn accountancy firm have achieved chartered accountancy status after a director obtained a practising certificate with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
James Clarkson joined the family firm as a school leaver in 2007.
He completed the three-year ACCA qualification in 2016 while combining his studies with work, then commenced the application process for a practising certificate in 2020.
Dawn Clarkson, co-director at Clarksons, said: “It is very rewarding to see James obtain his practicing certificate from the ACCA; the whole team is immensely proud of him.
“James is home-grown talent, and it is a well-deserved achievement.”
James said he had a passion for driving the firm forward and hoped to use the newfound chartered status to attract innovative accounting professionals to the firm.
The company aims to expand in the near future as James takes a more active role in the management of the accountancy and advisory business, while Dawn focuses on her new business coaching venture.
As well as achieving chartered status, Clarksons have invested in cloud-based software and use Xero for their clients’ accountancy needs.
“We are proud to have gained ‘Xero Gold Partner Status’ last summer”, said James.
“This allows us to deliver the most efficient service to our clients, who are always at the centre of everything we do.”
