
Leyburn Arts and Community Centre has shut for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus.
The venue will close from Saturday, centre bosses have announced.
They said in a statement: “Amid the ongoing concern regarding coronavirus (COVID-19), we have reluctantly made the decision that Leyburn Arts & Community Centre can no longer remain open beyond Saturday, March 21.
“We are currently open, advising the community groups and customers who use our centre about these arrangements as well as trying to reschedule events for later in the year.
“Advice has been changing daily but at the moment we expect to be closed for the foreseeable future.
“Please be assured that we will retain all regular room hire slots for future dates and hope to reschedule many of our current cancelled cinema live , theatre and other events where possible.”
The statement added: “As a community, we really need to support one another during this difficult and challenging time but as a volunteer led charity we must safeguard our volunteers as well as our users of the centre.
“We are still going ahead with the film on Friday, March 20 ensuring safe distances and good hygiene precautions and will advise you as soon as we are able to resume future films, events and room hire.”
The announcement affects three events in the near future.
They are:
- March 28 – Michael Ball & Alfie Boe: Back Together – new date to be advised (September 2020)
- March 31 – History Wardrobe – “Ready For Action” – new date to be advised (August 2020)
- April 1,2 & 3rd LADS – Pardon Me, Prime Minister ” – new date to be advised (October 2020)
