Tennants Auctioneers in Leyburn is finding different ways to back good causes who are raising funds, providing services to NHS workers or supporting the community during the coronavirus pandemic.
The company has helped towards the We’ll Meet Again initiative, which is delivering goody bags to keyworkers, NHS staff and vulnerable people throughout the Dales.
It has provided £1,500 worth of complimentary candles and diffusers from its gift shop which are being distributed along with food and luxuries throughout Wensleydale, Swaledale, Arkengarthdale, Bishopdale and Coverdale.
While its offices are temporarily closed, the firm has also teamed up with Bidpath, its auction technology providers, to host for free a timed auction to raise money for Hospitality For Heroes.
Hospitality for Heroes is a not-for-profit, grass roots campaign created by the hospitality industry which is using skilled chefs to supply NHS staff and the vulnerable with free healthy meals.
The money raised is used to purchase quality produce to create the meals which are distributed to as many hospitals as possible.
The initiative, supported by a number of celebrity chefs including, Marcus Waring and Adam Handling has already provided more than 16,000 meals and £39,000 has been raised to buy ingredients.
The timed auction starts today and ends on Sunday, May 3 and the 33 lots on offer include a home delivered supply of fresh flowers, six magnums of wine, a week’s stay in St Barts and a signed limited edition artwork.
In addition to this, Tennants is providing free valuations to registered charities on items they may wish to sell, when it is safe to consign them.
All they have to do is contact Tennants via email with details and images, or set up a virtual valuation via Zoom/Skype.
Director Jane Tennant said: “Tennants has a long and proud tradition of supporting good causes and ordinarily, we take the opportunity to raise funds for local charities through the viewing of our forthcoming sales.
“We know that the coronavirus is affecting the fundraising efforts of many charities and want to play our part and help wherever we can.”
