Members of Leyburn Bowling Club are preparing for a mammoth 24-hour fundraising match.

As it approaches its 100th anniversary in two years time, Leyburn Bowling Club is holding a number of fundraising events to raise money for a new clubhouse.

The events include a 24-hour sponsored bowling at the green in Moor Road.

This story continues after the adverts:

Bowling will start at 5pm on Saturday, August 18 and end at 5pm on the Sunday.

A number of club members will be present throughout the 24 hours, bowling in rotation.

The club  is also inviting other bowling clubs to come along at any time during those 24 hours to play matches against the Leyburn bowlers.

The club is also welcoming non-bowlers who have never tied the sport to take part in the challenge.

Apart from the bowling, a number of competitions will be held throughout the event.

There will also be a raffle. Light refreshments will be served day and night.

The money raised will be shared between the club and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Penny Johnson, club secretary, said: “We feel this is a unique bowling event for the Dales and hope our efforts will be well supported by everyone.”
