Costa in Leyburn is to shut permanently, it has been announced.
The branch will shut for good on Sunday, a post on the outlet’s Facebook page tells customers.
The post states: “It is with a very broken heart that team Leyburn have to let you know that the doors of our lovely store will close permanently on Sunday 11th of October.
“We found out this morning and have had a few hours to get our heads sorted and try and process all of this.
“We would like to thank all of our amazing customers for your continued support, you really have no idea how much it has meant to all of us.
“For myself I just want to say the biggest thankyou to my team for being some of the best people I have ever met.
“Costa Leyburn will always hold a special place in my heart. I have met the most wonderful people and have made friendships for life.”
The coffee shop opened in the former HSBC bank last year after it was put on the market for £220,000.

I am sorry for the staff who have to find work in this difficult time. Hopefully they can sort something out soon. I won’t be sorry that some of the customers will no longer be able to discard their empty coffee cups out in the nearby countryside. The road up from Wensley to the gallops on Penhill is particularly affected. Maybe there can be a replacement business which doesn’t involve ‘disposable’ materials?
Real shame for Leyburn, it added to the high street. Did a great job in refurbishing the old bank too. Great coffee too will miss you.
Though I wish the staff well, I must be honest; I’d rather have seen a real local coffee shop than a global franchise.
Shop local and keep the local economy running, especially in these straightened times.
