Leyburn Primary School clubs benefit from business link-up

The breakfast and after-schools clubs at Leyburn Primary School have benefited from donations provided by local businesses.

The school has introduced the services to help working parents with childcare.

A room was set-aside for the clubs, but there were few toys, games and activities for children to play with so an appeal went out to local businesses for help.

Among those who came forward was Milners of Leyburn which provided a dolls’ house complete with furniture.

Leonie Garrard, of Miners, said: “As a parent of children who used to attend the school and a local business owner we were only to happy to help.”

Leyburn builder Gary Acton helped out by providing piping to make a playhouse.

Penleys of Leyburn and K Teas Cakes gave ingredients for baking.

Wensleydale Garden Centre gave some seeds for the children to plant while Campbells of Leyburn provided snacks for the children.

Head teacher Sarah Beveridge said: “The breakfast and after-school clubs are a really good service for working parents, and have proved very popular.

“Sarah Willis, the after-school club coordinator, has made some really good links with local businesses and we are very grateful for their support.”
