A fundraising campaign has been given a £650 boost by shoppers from the Co-op in Leyburn.

The Dales Divas, aka the Double Ds, are raising as much money as possible for breast cancer charity Walk the Walk.

All 11 members of the group have been directly and indirectly affected by breast cancer and say they want to do what they can to help tackle the disease.

The Co-op in Leyburn has boosted the total by putting donation buckets at the tills and organising a raffle.

Store manager Jonathan Barker said: “They are a fantastic local group raising money for a worthy cause and we though they needed a bit of a boost, and were more than happy to help.”

Dales Divas member Denise Read thanked shopper and the store for their support.

“We are very, very grateful,” she added.

“It’s really helped us towards our fundraising target .”
