A Leyburn independent retailer is celebrating after winning all three categories it was shortlisted for at a prestigious national awards ceremony.
Campbells of Leyburn enjoyed a clean sweep at the Retail Industry Awards 2026, taking home all three titles it was shortlisted for.
The family-run store was named Independent Fresh & Chilled Retailer of the Year, Independent Drinks Retailer of the Year and Independent Retailer of the Year over 6,000sq ft.
The awards were presented at the Hilton London Bankside on Tuesday, September 22, at a ceremony hosted by comedian Mark Watson.
The annual Retail Industry Awards celebrate achievements across the UK grocery sector, recognising independent retailers as well as major supermarket groups.
Kath Campbell said the team was overwhelmed to receive national recognition, particularly as a relatively small independent rural business.
She said: “Feeling quite overwhelmed to be recognised in winning these awards at a national level.
“It is quite some achievement for a relatively small independent rural store.
“We are so proud of everyone involved, from all our staff who work so hard, to all the people who work behind the scenes supplying and maintaining the store and most of all to our wonderful customers, who come from near and far to shop with us and enjoy the Campbells experience.”
The Retail Industry Awards bring together businesses from throughout the grocery retail sector, with organisers describing this year’s finalists and winners as demonstrating the innovation, commitment and resilience found throughout the industry.
