The author of the Little Alf children’s books says she has big plans for her new little shop.
Hannah Russell will officially open the store in the Golden Lion Yard, in Leyburn, on Saturday. It will sell Little Alf merchandise including gifts, books and clothing.
She said the prospect of launching her own shop was both exciting and nerve-wracking.
This story continues after the adverts:
She added: “I have lots planned with the shop and how I can fit in with the Yorkshire Dales.
“Over the next few months I’m going to be working with lots of companies around Yorkshire to create a Little Alf trail from the shop which hopefully will help promote tourism.
“It’s great to have a base in Leyburn we have a lot of local suppliers and supporters so it fantastic to be opening up this Saturday.
“The shop is only small but I have lots of creative ideas which I look forward to developing over the next few years.”
Hannah got Alf as a Christmas present after suffering a series of riding accidents which left her with a fractured vertebrae and worn spinal discs.
Unable to ride horses for a year, she bonded with the two-year-old miniature Shetland pony and started writing an online blog about him for fun.
Hannah has now written four children’s books featuring Alf, who also stars in his own on-line magazine.
