Local author gives talk on inspiration behind debut book

Local author Suzanne Stirke will talk about her debut novel and the sources she used at the Middleham and the Dales Local History Group meeting next month.

No Man’s Moor takes its title from the lane that runs along the south of Newton Le Willows, which was once an old droving route.

Set in 1816, just after the Napoleonic Wars and based on historical events, Suzanne has used her interest in local history to create an tale which uses Bedale and the surrounding area as its backdrop.

The sequel to No Man’s Moor which is called World’s End will be available after Christmas.

She is currently working on her third book about local hero, Sister Dora from Hauxwell, who became a ground breaking nurse in the mid-1800s.

The group will meet at 2pm on Wednesday, February 21 at Harmby Village Hall.

Annual membership of Middleham and the Dales Local History Group is £12, visitors are welcome at £3 per meeting.
