A catering couple have taken over the cafe in Richmond Market Hall.
Lisa and Shaun Lockey already run the Donut Box, a converted horse trailer from which they sell freshly cooked donuts and milkshakes locally and at shows and events around the region.
They have now taken over the cafe in the Market Hall and have have renamed it the Market Cafe.
The couple, who have three children and live at Sedbury near Scotch Corner, say they aim to make improvements at the cafe in coming months.
Shaun said: “We have some huge events this year with the Donut Box including Reading and Leeds festivals and we were delighted to have been nominated for product of the year at the 2018 Flavours of Herriot Country Award.
“We are now widening our horizons and have just took over the cafe at the indoor market.
“We aim to produce great quality food at competitive prices using local suppliers and bring something new to Richmond as we progress into the Spring.”
The couple are originally from Newton Aycliffe but moved to the area three years ago.
Lisa had her own cleaning company while Shaun was a delivery driver before the change in direction.
