A ‘high class’ tea service is to launch on Wensleydale Railway later this year.

Afternoon tea will be served in a luxurious saloon carriage which was build in 1912.

The service is a joint project by Wensleydale Railway and Upstairs at Institution cafe in Bedale.

The new service launches on May 23.

The service will depart from Bedale and travel up to Leyburn and then Redmire, before returning to Bedale.

Organisers say the passengers will be afforded spectacular views of Wensleydale while travelling and eating in style.

The saloon once carried Bruce Ismay, the chairman and managing director of the White Star Line who infamously survived the Titanic disaster while others drowned.

It will be available for private and corporate events.

More details of the service will be announced later.
