Man airlifted to hospital after crash near Newton-le-Willows

A man was airlifted to hospital after a crash near Newton-le-Willows today.

The single-vehicle accident happened near Lindale Holiday Park on No Mans Moor Lane.

The emergency services were called just before 12noon.

The man in his 20s suffered neck, abdominal and back injuries after being trapped in his vehicle.

He was rescued from the black Renault Megane by firefighters from Leyburn and Bedale who used hydraulic cutting gear and stabilisation equipment.

Great North Air Ambulance Service was called at 1pm to assist Yorkshire Ambulance Service with the patient.

On arrival the doctor-paramedic trauma team assessed the patient before he was flown to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough for ongoing treatment.

His injuries were described as non-life threatening and he arrived at hospital in a stable condition.
