Man appears in court for assaulting police officers

York Magistrates' Court.

A Richmondshire man has appeared in court charged with assaulting two police officers.

David Stobbart, 41, of Brokes, near Richmond, admitted assaulting the officers on April 17 at an earlier hearing.

The court heard he assaulted Sergeant Sharon Findlay and PCSO Lucy Osborn in an incident in the hamlet.

He also admitted causing £60 of damage to a car by damaging its wing mirror in Brokes and being drunk and disorderly in Frenchgate, Richmond, on the same day.

On Thursday, no evidence was offered by the prosecution for an charge of exposing his genitals in Frenchgate and Stobbart was found not guilty by the court.

The hearing was adjourned and the defendant will be sentenced at a later date.

Stobbart was released on unconditional bail.
