Man dies after vehicle hits tree near Catterick Garrison

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died when his car left the road and struck a tree near Catterick Garrison.

The collision happened on Range Road at about 5.55pm on Sunday when a black Audi travelling out of the garrison left the carriageway and hit a tree around half a mile away.

The driver, a 32-year-old man who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the black Audi travelling through Catterick Garrison before the crash.

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage showing the vehicle either travelling through the garrison or leaving the road.

The road was closed while emergency services attended, collision investigators examined the scene and the vehicle was recovered. It reopened shortly before midnight.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
