A man has been given a community order after a disturbance at a Catterick Village pub.

John Maguire, 28, of Limekiln Woods Caravan Park, Catterick Village, was charged with assaulting two women at the Bay Horse Inn on May 22.

He was also charged with criminal damage after breaking a number of pint glasses during the incident.

Maguire admitted the two assault charges when he appeared before magistrates in York on Friday.

He had admitted the criminal damage charge at an earlier hearing.

Maguire was given an exclusion order banning him from entering the Bay Horse for 12 months.

He was also ordered to undertake 180 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months.

The court told Maguire he must pay £200 in compensation to his assault victims, as well as £50 compensation for the damage in the pub.

He must also pay costs and a victim surcharge of £180.
