Man in court over Catterick Garrison mum’s death

Naomi Buckle.

A Richmondshire man has denied causing the death of a young mum and seriously injuring a man by dangerous driving.

Harry Elliott, 24, of Anteforth View, Gilling West, appeared at York Crown Court yesterday when he pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Naomi Buckle.

He also denied seriously injuring a named man in the crash on the B6265 in Risplith, near Ripon.

Mr Elliott was driving an Audi RS3 at the time of the collision on December 6, 2019.

Miss Buckle was aged 20 at the time of the collision and had a young daughter.

She was a passenger in the Audi when it collided with a tree.

A fundraising appeal set up by Naomi’s friends following her death raised several thousand pounds.

Judge Sean Morris, the Recorder of York, adjourned the case for a trial starting on June 12 next year.

It is expected to last at least five days.
