Man injured after crashing into hedge on A66

A motorist was injured after cashing into a hedge on the A66.

The incident happened at about 8.15pm on Sunday near Ravensworth.

The 32-year-old man was trapped in a Volkswagen Golf after it left the road and hit a hedge.

Police, paramedics and firefighters from Richmond and Colburn attended the scene.

Firefighters used a reciprocating saw to make space to free the man who able to walk from the vehicle.

He was taken to hospital by road ambulance with injuries to his arm, shoulder and collar bone.
