Man injured in Richmond town centre accident

A man was injured today in an accident in Richmond town centre today.

The incident involved a lorry in the town’s Finkle Street.

It is understood the man was delivering to a shop when the pallet truck and the man fell off the of lorry’s tail lift.

Local shoppers and shopkeepers came to the man’s aid before an ambulance crew arrived.

A Great North Air Ambulance helicopter with a doctor and paramedic then arrived, landing on the Richmondshire Cricket Club pitch.

A spokesperson for the ambulance service confirmed they had been called to assist following an accident involving a pallet truck.

The incident occurred at around 3pm this afternoon.

The man was still being treated at the scene at 4.30pm.

One shop worker said: “It’s absolutely horrific – we feel so sorry for the man.”
