
A man has been jailed after crashing a car while over the drink drive limit in Middleham.
Jamie Bethell, 31, from Jedburgh Drive, Darlington, appeared before magistrates in York yesterday.
It came after a Vauxhall Astra crashed near Middleham in the early hours of July 3.
The defendant admitted a number of offences in connection with the incident.
These included drink driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving a vehicle without a licence and driving a vehicle without insurance.
The court heard that in August last year Bethell received a 16-week suspended sentence for dangerous driving in Northallerton in March 2021.
For breaching the original sentence and the new offences he was jailed for 20 weeks in total on Monday
Bethell was also banned from driving for 43 months. and ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge.
