Man rescued by firefighters after wheelchair gets stuck in pothole

Conyers Close, Richmond.

A man had to be rescued by firefighters after his electric wheelchair got stuck in a pothole.

The incident happened in Conyers Close, Richmond, yesterday.

Fire crews were called to the street at 2.13pm.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A gentleman in an electric wheel chair had got stuck in a pothole in the road and was unable to free himself.

“A crew from Richmond were able to lift the chair out of the hole.”

The spokesperson added that elderly man’s wheelchair got stuck in the pothole after he came off the kerb.
