Man seriously injured after being hit by car

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car.

The 46-year-old pedestrian was hit as he crossed the road in Wensley, near Leyburn, on Friday, December 22.

The collision was reported to the emergency services at 11.30pm.

It is understood the local man had just got out of a taxi when he was hit with the side of a vehicle travelling through the village.

He sustained serious leg and abdominal injuries and was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough where he remains in a stable condition.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to the police should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
