Man wanted by police for drugs offences arrested

A man wanted by police in Leyburn for alleged drugs offences has been arrested.

John James McMenamin was arrested in the early hours this morning.

North Yorkshire Police issued a wanted appeal on 23 June to trace McMenamin and another man who were wanted after failing to answer police bail.

McMenamin, 31, from South Bank near Redcar, and Zachery Martyn Sparrow, 21, from Leyburn, failed to answer bail following their arrest on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply.

Sparrow was arrested on June 28.

However, McMenami has been on the run for the last month.

He remains in custody following his arrest today.

In January, JJ McMenamin attracted headlines around the world after dressing up as Where’s Wally while on the run from police for motoring offences.

He evetually handed himself in to police after evading them for several days and updating Facebook with pictures and videos of himself dressed as the children’s book character.
