Masked men threaten Richmond man with knife during attempted burglary

Wellesleys Mews, Richmond.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after masked raiders threatened a man with a knife in an attempted robbery in Richmond today.

The incident happened in Wellesleys Mews at around 6.30am.

The victim, a 61-year-old man, contacted police to report two masked men had gained access to his property and threatened him with a knife.

It is believed that the thieves left empty handed and made off from the property possibly in the direction of Quaker Lane.

The homeowner was left with small lacerations to his finger and toe and very shaken from the incident.

Both men are thought to be in their 20s, of thin build and were wearing black clothing, black shoes and had their faces concealed by a mask or knitted scarves.

Anyone who was in the area at the time, who witnessed anything suspicious or anyone who lives in the area of Wellesleys Mews and Quaker Lane who may have CCTV footage is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Michele Fawcett, of Hambleton and Richmond CID on 101.
