Mavs beat Hawes to stay top

Richmond Mavericks remain at the top of the Scotts4Storage Wensleydale League table after beating in-form title rivals Hawes 6-2.

Veteran striker Wayne Gredziak scored a hat-trick in the game, with Sam Pickersgill and Owen Kelly also netting for the Richmond team.

Dan Richardson scored twice for Hawes.

Carperby bounced back from a run of three league defeats with an impressive 3-0 away win over Spennithorne and Harmby.

Spenni started the stronger with Scott Ryan, Damon Reakes and Kalem Stanger combining well to create a number of opportunities in the first 15 minutes but Carperby’s defence and John Pickard, back in goal from injury, held out well against the early pressure.

Carperby grew into the game and started to get more of the possession as the half continued.

Carperby started the second well and after creating a few half chances got the first goal when Sam Lambert finished well with a side footed half volley from the edge of the box after good work from Michael Dent.

The game continued to be competitive, with Carperby getting the second goal they felt was required to make the game safe when Scott Lambert rose to power home a header into the top corner from a Paul Stephenson corner.

Carperby put the game to bed in the 82nd minute when a lovely through ball capped off a great second half performance from Scott Alderson, with Sam Lambert racing clear to lob the ball over the on coming Spennithorne keeper.

Richmond Town Reserves got the better of local rivals Unicorn, winning 4-2.

A Danny Allen hat-trick did the damage, with Edward Lewington also scoring for Town.

Tom Keegan got both of Unicorn’s goals.

Elsewhere in the league, Catterick Garrison enjoyed an 8-1 win away at struggling Reeth.
