Mavs beat Spenni to maintain gap at top

Richmond Mavericks remain three points clear at the top of the table after a hard-fought win over Spennithorne on Saturday.

After going in front through Reuben Bainbridge, Mavs had to defend for much of the second against a spirited Spenni.

They held on to the narrow lead though to ensure they held on to top spot ahead of the Christmas break.

Hawes moved into second on goal difference after a 9-0 win thumping of Reeth.

Hawes were in front after just a minute when Ryan Alderson finished from a Jordan Iveson pull back.

The goals kept coming after that with Luke Wilkinson picking up four.

Jordan Iveson, Macauley Acton, Brett Calvert and Ben Fawcett also netted.

Unicorn maintained their title challenge with a 2-0 win over Catterick Garrison.

Second half goals from Luke Hamilton and Stuart Murray were enough to secure the win.

In the day’s final game, Richmond Town Reserves came from a goal down to beat Carperby 2-1.

Luke Morland opened the scoring for the Wensleydale team, Cameron Spence and Joseph Ramsay scored after the break for the Richmond team.
