Melsonby wine merchant Bon Coeur Fine Wines has launched a new consumer wine challenge Taste Like a Wine Pro.
The challenge will see Bon Coeur select a tasting team of 12 wine lovers every three months, each of whom will each receive a total of six different wines to taste.
Members of the team will be asked to create their own personal tasting notes and score each wine according to their own opinion.

Member’s tasting notes and critique will be shared on Bon Coeur’s new interactive website and through social media channels #tastelikeawinepro.
The challenge calls for novices and enthusiasts to connect with wine and aims to debunk the perceived pompousness of wine and communicate it in a fun and engaging way.

Commenting on the new wine campaign, founder of Bon Coeur, James Goodhart said: “We are very excited to be launching our first ever nationwide consumer wine campaign. If you enjoy tasting wine and having fun with it, then you’re exactly the sort of person we are looking for.
“Wine can be viewed as rather intimidating, but at Bon Coeur we love good wine and believe that everyone can enjoy trying and tasting a variety of different wines.
“The Taste Like a Wine Pro campaign is about breaking down the barriers and giving budding wine enthusiasts a platform to explore the wonderful world of wine; whilst sharing their experience with thousands of others looking for a great wine choice.”
The wines that successful applicants receive will be based on their personal preferences and palate which will be identified in the application process.
Tasters will be armed with information including ideal serving temperature and background information on the grape or blend of grapes.
As well as writing a fun tasting note for Bon Coeur, tasters will be required to give an overall score of the wine (out of five), taking into consideration not only whether they like the wine, but also value for money.
Each month the Top Taster will be announced and will receive a £100 voucher to spend online or in-store with Bon Coeur.
Top tasting notes, as well as some commended tasters, will be also be published on the Bon Coeur website with a personalised credit.
Tasters are encouraged to take inspiration from award-winning wine writers and bloggers such as Jancis Robinson, the colourful Oz Clarke, top wine blogger Matt Walls or wine journalist and Master of Wine, Tim Atkin.
All those selected will be invited to a special wine tasting introduction at Bon Coeur’s premises Moor Park to meet the Bon Coeur team and get a little more wine inspiration.
Applications close on Monday 16th October 2017. To find out more and apply visit www.bcfw.co.uk/taste-like-a-wine-pro
