Metal detectorists make discoveries at Wensleydale holiday centre

A group of metal detectorists have made fascinating discoveries at a Wensleydale holiday centre.

Members of the Sassy Searchers, an all-female group of metal detecting enthusiasts, met at the Jonas Centre in Redmire on Saturday.

Leyburn resident Clare Smith, who organised the event, thanked the Jonas Centre for allowing the group to meet at their site.

She said: “The weather forecast wasn’t great, but actually the weather was kind and we had a really great day.

“We found a lot of bullets but there were a couple of nice finds as well including a medieval lead token, a Charles II threepence, a George III farthing and a First World War ammunition worker badge.”

A medieval token found during the meet.
Other items found by the metal detectorists.

Members made a £80 donations towards the work of the Jonas Centre.

The Sassy Searchers were formed in 2018 by Michelle Vall, from Lancashire, to create a supportive environment for female detectorists.
