Three Middleham stable lads will take on a mammoth golf challenge for charity later this month.

Scott Doherty, David Hickin and Andrew Bacon, who work for Mark Johnston Racing, are taking part in the Macmillan Cancer Support Longest Golf Day Challenge.

The team will be teeing off at Romanby Gold course on June 30 at 6am.

They will then play for rounds playing 72 holes in total and expect to finish at 8.30pm.

Scott said it could be longer though as they’re not very good!

He added: “Most of us have been affected by cancer one way or another.

“Over 14 hours on course we will be doing what we do best, being terrible at golf. Please help us raise as much money as we can.”

Last year saw over 3,000 teams cross the UK sign up to play 72 holes in just one day, and raise £1.5 million for people affected by cancer.

The charity hopes to beat that total this year.
