Mini-cadet programme launched at Catterick Garrison primary school

A mini-police cadet scheme has been launched at a Catterick Garrison primary school.

The programme has been set up at Hipswell Primary School by local PCSO Nicole Randall.

The aim of the scheme is to get children involved in their local community and give them a positive experience and insight to policing.

Each mini police candidate will receive an award following the programme to recognise their hard work and enthusiasm.
PCSO Randall said: “As well as benefitting the community, this positive community engagement also helps with the personal development of the youngsters and establishes important trust and confidence in the police service from an early age.
“This is an exciting new initiative, and I am looking forward to working with the children to enhance their life skills, citizenship, and watch them develop into positive role models within the community.”
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police added: “We hope to offer it to more schools in North Yorkshire and if you’re interested you can contact your local neighbourhood policing team by visiting the ‘Your area’ section of our website.”
