All collections of household, recycling and garden waste across Richmondshire have been cancelled for today due to the severe weather conditions, Richmondshire District Council says.
Anyone who has missed a grey bin collection this week due to the unpredictable weather conditions are advised to take in their bin over the weekend and put them back out on Monday March 5.
Collection of missed grey bins will then be made at some point during the week.
This story continues after the adverts:
The council says they are unable to advise specifically which day the collection will be made.
A spokesman added: “However, please be assured that collections will recommence as soon as weather conditions allow.”
Please keep checking our website – richmondshire.gov.uk – and Facebook @richmondshiredc for further updates and more specific information.
If your Grey bin collection is due to take place on Monday March 5 it will go ahead – weather permitting – but residents are asked to keep an eye on updates as the situation could change in response to the weather.
Recycling and Garden waste collections that are due to take place on Monday 5, Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 March have been cancelled.
The council says yhis is to enable resources to be diverted to the collection of missed grey bins. Any excess recycling should be put out for the next scheduled collection.
Garden waste will not be revisited until the next scheduled collection day – anyone needing extra green waste removed as a result of this delay should collect recyclable bags from the council offices.
The spokesman added: “Road and pavement conditions have made it too dangerous for the refuse trucks and operatives to be on the roads – with slippery surfaces and snow drifts making it treacherous for them, and for other people and vehicles.
“Weather conditions are being carefully monitored and a further update will be posted on Monday.”
