A dog has been found 12 days after it went missing in remote woodland.
Nine-month-old labrador Ruby was lost in the Stang Forest, between Arkengarthdale and Barnard Castle, on Thursday, October 5.
Hundreds of people including rescue volunteers and scouts have been searching for the dog.
And today owner Pauline Kavanagh announced she had been found tangled in wire by a walker.
The owner said she was found tangled in wire around her front left leg which was pulled above her head.
After taking the wire off, the owners rusher the dog to Swaledale Vets who were ready waiting for her.
Pauline said: “They quickly took Ruby in and put her on fluids and pain killers.
“Her left leg has a nasty injury from the wire and maggots all around it.
“The vet was amazed that Ruby is alert and noticing things around her.
“She licked the nurse on the face and wagged her tail.”
The vets are hoping the leg can be saved.
“I can’t believe we have her back and hopefully soon home,” added Pauline, who thanked everyone who had helped in the search.
” Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to every single person who has so kindly looked for Ruby.
“We don’t know all your names but we send you all our love.”
