Money boxes by St Francis Xavier pupils on display at The Station

Animal money cans designed and made by Year 9 pupils from St Francis Xavier School have gone on display at The Station in Richmond.

Every animal design is unique and full of character, and when a coin is dropped into the can a sound recording will be triggered.

The technology and English departments have worked collaboratively and pupils have also produced a name tag with an individual personified biography for each animal.

This project that has developed pupils creativity, their computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing skills, and hand crafting skills. The project includes a recycling element, and has introduced pupils to electronics and soldering.

The money cans will collect money for:

  • Regional Charity:  North Yorkshire Air Ambulance
  • National Charity:  RSPCA
  • Global Charity:  WWF

More than £230 has already been raised.

The display will be on show until July 3.
