Community groups are being urged not to miss out on a slice of a £250,000 grant programme to upgrade play parks across Richmondshire.
There are 44 parks looked after by town, parish and voluntary groups – and all are eligible for cash support.
So far awards have been made to Bellerby (£8,500), Middleham (£10k), Hunton (£10k), Scorton (£10k), Harmby (£9,850) and Barton (£10k) – with another four applications in the pipeline for Melsonby, Gilling and Newton-le-Willows.
A maximum of £10,000 will be awarded for each project approved. Applications are simple – but groups are asked to supply three quotes for the planned work and the work must be completed within six months.
The district council scheme has also allocated £150,000 for the 25 parks it owns and maintains – work on these is expected to begin soon.
