Moorland safaris take place in Yorkshire Dales

Members of the public were given a guided tour of Swaledale’s moorlands at the weekend.

The moorland bird safari was hosted by the Yorkshire Dales Moorland Group (YDMG) in conjunction with Keld Resource Centre and Gunnerside Estate.

People were chauffeured around three estates in Swaledale by gamekeepers and bird guides to admire the bird populations on the grouse moors.

Darren Chadwick, from YDMG, said: “Over 50 species were recorded and the participants were in awe at the array of red listed and endangered waders.”

A similar event is taking place in Wensleydale this Saturday and Sunday.
