More businesses able to apply for Covid-19 grant aid

A further round of grant aid is being launched this week by the district council.

Richmondshire District Council is opening up the discretionary grant scheme to another batch of applications, but businesses have just five days to apply.

So far 132 Richmondshire businesses have received a share of £965,000 in grant aid from the scheme to help them through losses incurred through the coronavirus pandemic.

But the council still has a small amount of money available to grant additional help to businesses who have more than one business function, accounted for separately.

Officers said they recognised that many businesses, especially in the retail, hospitality and leisure industry operate multiple business functions.

Where those functions can show discrete and separate income and expenditure figure the council will accept a new application for further support.

Applications may be made between Wednesday, July 29 and Sunday, August 2 after which the opportunity to claim will end.

The council received £1.1 million from central government for this grant scheme, which is on top of the £24million it has already allocated under the small business and retail, hospitality and leisure grant schemes.
