Motor club donates £8,000 to local charities after Scott Trial

Richmond Motor Club has handed out thousands of pounds to good causes following its annual charity presentation evening.

The event took place on Friday, March 13 at Richmondshire Cricket Club, where members and guests gathered to celebrate another successful year of fundraising linked to the Scott Trial.

Opening the evening, Richmond Motor Club president Robert Stones welcomed attendees and outlined the history of the event, highlighting the club’s long-standing commitment to supporting local organisations.

He बताया that since taking over the running of the Scott Trial in 1991, the club has raised more than £233,000 for charities across the region.

Cheques were presented by 2025 Scott Trial winner Jonathan Richardson, who handed out a total of £8,000 raised from last year’s event.

Representatives from a wide range of organisations were present on the night, many speaking about how the funding would make a difference to their work in the community.

Beneficiaries included Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Great North Air Ambulance Service and Marie Curie, along with a number of schools, community groups and charities from across Richmondshire and beyond.

Other recipients ranged from youth organisations and village funds to healthcare and welfare charities, reflecting the broad reach of the Scott Trial’s fundraising efforts.

Organisers said the evening was a chance not only to distribute funds but also to recognise the strong community spirit behind the event, with riders, volunteers and supporters all contributing to its continued success.

The Scott Trial remains one of the most well-known events in the off-road motorcycling calendar, combining sporting tradition with a commitment to giving back to local communities.
