Motorcyclist dies after crash on A1(M) near Barton

A motorcyclist died in a crash on the A1(M) last night.

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following the incident between junction 57 and junction 56, near Barton, at about 9.30pm on Friday.

It involved an orange-coloured motorcycle travelling south on the motorway.

The motorcycle left the carriageway and ended up on the grass verge.

Sadly, the male rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was closed to allow emergency services to attend to the collision and for investigators to examine the scene.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have seen the motorcycle and its rider prior to collision, may have relevant dashcam footage, or may have witnessed the collision, to get in touch if they have not already spoken to officers.”
