The police need to be more apparent on sunny weekends.
Its like a race track in the dales. Stupidity and selfish behaviour.
15k every time air ambulance is called out.
As a resident living across the dale from the 685 into Hawes, I have to say that this tragic incident comes as no surprise (again).
The road from Leyburn through to Ingleton is a dangerous place on weekends. It is treated as a racetrack. I can see the attraction. Beautiful winding road, just challenging enough to make it ‘entertaining’ & long straights which tempt riders (and drivers) into gunning the throttle.
The volume of hedonistic traffic has increased considerably in recent years & the numbers who behave irresponsibly (& illegally) has also increased.
I cannot see a solution to the dangerous riding of the (highly visible/audible) few who treat the road as their playground. You cannot change their behaviour & enforcement is uncommon & easily avoidable by those bent on thrill seeking.
Hoping the hospitalised bikers make a full recovery.
Roads aren’t dangerous, people are.
Sad but not surprising given the speed that motorcyclists travel around the Dales , they seem to think the roads are racetracks .The police do nothing to stop this blight on our villages.
