A motorist and his passenger had a lucky escape after their high-powered car crashed into a bridge over the A1(M).
The incident happened at the Catterick junction on Sunday evening.
North Yorkshire Police said the driver of the Nissan Skyline lost control after exiting a roundabout at the junction.
A police spokesperson said: “Explanations will be required in due course from the driver of the Nissan Skyline which managed to go out of control over the A1 at Catterick tonight having just exited a roundabout.
“Luckily the barrier stopped the car dropping onto the carriageway below.”
Nobody was injured in the incident.
The spokesperson added: “The young male driver is currently left explaining the thrilling ride to his young lady passenger.
“Then he can explain to us.”
