Motorists rescued after driving into flooded ford

Two people were rescued after driving into a flooded ford yesterday.

The incident happened at about 5.45pm in Colburn Lane, Colburn.

Fire crews from Richmond, Leyburn, Bedale, Ripon and Selby responded to the incident.

They arrived to find a male and female trapped in a car which had entered a flooded ford.

Crews used a line to secure the vehicle and walked the occupants to safety.

Firefighters also administered oxygen therapy for shock.
