Motorists have been urged to take care this morning after overnight snow caused problems on the region’s road.
Around two inches of snow fell on parts of Richmondshire, with further snow showers forecast this morning and this evening.
Leyburn Community Primary and Eppleby Forcett schools have announced they will close today, however several schools have confirmed they will be open.

These include Wensleydale, Risedale and QE in Darlington, although the college warned yesterday that buses serving Richmondshire students may not run today.

Richmond School and SFX say they will be open as usual.
Brompton-on-Swale, Le Cateau Primary, Hipswell Primary and Middleton Tyas have also confirmed they will be open.

Police say driving conditions are difficult with the A1 down to single file at Leeming.
The A66 trans-Pennine route is still open, Highways England says.
Catterick Racecourse has cancelled its planned meet today because of the snow.
