Rishi Sunak has paid a visit to Bolton-on-Swale St Mary’s Church of England Primary, which was rated as outstanding in its most recent church school inspection report.

During his visit, Mr Sunak attended assembly, joined in with the school song and addressed the whole school about his work as an MP, and how democracy and Parliament works.

He also met the school council and eco team and visited each classroom, hearing about class two’s project on the weather and taking part in Q&A sessions with the more senior pupils in classes three and four.

Mr Sunak said: “I was most impressed by the children who were all very engaged in the topics we talked about and their pride in their school was clearly evident.

“Headed up by Mrs Dobson, the staff have created a very special atmosphere. Pupils love their learning and it was easy to see why the school is rated so highly.”

Nicola Dobson, headteacher, said: “The children were delighted to be able to celebrate all the special things they value about our school when Rishi visited. The children learnt first hand how our democratic system works and how their concerns can be represented.”

  1. Of course he visits a school which is outstanding. Maybe his next visit should be to a school which is not doing so well & help them to improve. I don’t think he will do you!!!!
