The Muker Show has been cancelled, the organisers have announced.
The committee said in a statement: “Following much discussion at an outdoor meeting of the Swaledale Agricultural and Horticultural Society Committee on 8 July 2021, it is with great regret that we have decided to cancel Muker Show this year.
“We have been advised to expect much greater numbers of show visitors than normal and, after investigating options, we have concluded that we simply do not have the physical resources or space to be able to deal with this.
“We know that this will be disappointing for many, but we are a small, local show with a big reach, and we do not want to put our community, volunteers and visitors at risk.
“We have delayed the decision for as long as possible in the hope that Muker Show could go ahead this year, but it has sadly become evident that it cannot.
“The committee are already working on plans for Muker Show in 2022 and we thank everyone for their continued support and look forward to seeing you in the future.”
