A new adult weight management service is being launched in Richmondshire next month.
The Choose to Lose scheme will be open for business from March 2 and is free of charge for adults with a BMI above 25 who are in need of support to implement a healthier lifestyle.
Choose to Lose is fully funded by North Yorkshire County Council Public Health and delivered by Richmondshire District Council.
It consists of a 12-week structured weight management programme plus a 12-week maintenance programme for those who achieve five per cent weight loss in their first 12 weeks.
The programme offers support from qualified weight management advisors and group support to achieve your individual goals.
The programme will see attendees join weekly hour-long group sessions, which will include a weigh-in to monitor progress, healthy eating advice and tailored physical activity.
To register interest contact Jo-Anne Scott on 01748 901045 or jo-anne.scott@richmondshire.gov.uk or, from March 2, fill in the application form on www.richmondshire.gov.uk
An advisor will then make contact to have an initial discussion about the programme and arrange a face to face health assessment, before allocating clients with a weight management advisor for the weekly programme.
This service is free to anyone who meets the following criteria;
- aged 18 years or over
- BMI (Body Mass Index) equal to or greater than 25.
- resident or registered with a GP practice in North Yorkshire
